Association for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Indonesia

As part of this collaboration, Baykar Makina and PT Republikorp have signed a joint venture agreement (JVA) to enhance Indonesia’s defense capabilities through the local production of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. The agreement was signed by Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar and PT Republikorp President Norman Joesoef.

Through this partnership, a joint venture will be established in Indonesia, focusing on the manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of unmanned aerial vehicles. The main products to be localized include up to 60 Bayraktar TB3 medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) aircraft and up to nine Bayraktar Akinci high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) aircraft. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the aerospace industry and improve national defense self-sufficiency.

Baykar will contribute its expertise in manufacturing, technology transfer, and training, while Republikorp will ensure regulatory compliance, infrastructure development, certification of local experts, and integration into Indonesia’s defense ecosystem.

Focus on technology transfer and national capacity building.

As part of this collaboration, Republikorp will take an active role in localization efforts, including the establishment of production facilities and supply chain management, ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability of Indonesia’s aerospace industry.

The collaboration with the Ministry of Defense will ensure that the UAVs produced meet Indonesia’s strategic needs, including national security, territorial surveillance, and defense operations. This initiative represents Indonesia’s commitment to advancing national defense technology for the future.

This agreement is a continuation of the agreement to acquire 60 Bayraktar TB3 units and nine Akinci units.

As a global leader in UAV technology, Baykar will ensure high-quality standards, system integration, and operational efficiency in line with international benchmarks. This partnership will not only enhance defense autonomy but also create opportunities for innovation, research, and development of UAV technology in Indonesia, further boosting the competitiveness of Indonesia’s aerospace sector regionally. This initiative is part of Indonesia’s long-term vision to build a self-reliant, competitive, and future-proof defense industry capable of addressing emerging global challenges.
