The Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Andalusian Regional Government, Jorge Paradela, and the president of the Andalucía Aerospace cluster, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, have presented the data from the Andalusian aerospace sector report for the 2023 fiscal year, which recorded a total turnover of €2.743 billion and 14,440 direct jobs. These figures represent a 16.4% increase in revenue and a 10% rise in employment compared to the previous year, with €387 million in additional sales and 1,304 new workers added over the past year. This growth, in Jorge Paradela’s words, “not only demonstrates the strength of the Andalusian aerospace industry, but also its capacity for adaptation.”
“As a government, we are aware that we are in a period of transition with major challenges, but also significant opportunities,” emphasized the Minister of Industry. In this regard, he noted that “sustainability will continue to be a key factor, driving innovation in new technologies and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).” A challenge that, he added, “opens up new opportunities and synergies between two pillars of our industrial fabric: aerospace and the energy industry.”
Paradela also highlighted that “defense investment will increase in the short term, which benefits the military aerospace sector with a strong presence in Andalusia. However, we must be prepared not only to strengthen existing production lines, but also to secure the highest possible workload in new European defense projects and systems.” This issue was addressed by the Minister earlier this week in a meeting with the Secretary of State for Defense, María Amparo Valcarce, in Madrid.
