If I had to choose the greatest eccentricity seen in the world of aviation, I would undoubtedly choose The Human Flight, or in other words, the adventure of Rick Rojatt riding a Douglas DC-8, tightrope walker-style, fixed to the top of the four-engine fuselage. Dressed in a fine cotton suit and flying at over 280 mph at 5,000 feet, Rick amazed everyone with all his performances, which were filmed with equipment from the era. He made several flights, and on one of them, the plane encountered a light rain shower, but as is logical given the speed at which he was flying, passing through the curtains of raindrops was so unbearable that Rick fainted and required six weeks of hospitalization to recover.
