Rotabuggy the flying jeep

This unusual version of the popular Willys Jeep can be found in a replica at the British Army Aviation Museum, located near Andover. It was designed by Raoul Hafner, after he developed the Rotachutte. This experimental vehicle was created in 1943 and flew in September 1944 for about 10 minutes, at an altitude of 400 feet and a speed of 65 mph. This prototype was intended to transport troops and materiel quickly and accurately, but with the development of heavy-lift gliders, the idea was abandoned.
